The StorEdge A3500 is simply a hardware RAID controller available either in UltraSCSI or Fibre Channel (to connect to host systems). The A3500 uses D1000s as its disk trays. In its simplest configuration each A3500 is capable of connecting up to 5 D1000's; providing a capacity of 60 disks. Although the A3500 is now discontinued, it still sports features that make it an extremely fast, flexible and reliable system.
